Award-winning Mexican Beach Hideaway

Located 70 miles south of Puerto Vallarta, in the heart of Costalegre, Jalisco, Hotelito Desconocido is an ecological oasis and luxury escape rolled, into one stunning masterpiece.

Nestled delicately in an UNESCO nature preserve, this award-winning Mexican beach hideaway has captured the hearts and imagination of luxury travelers and critics from all over the world. The breathtaking nature reserve that cocoons the property is bustling with local bird species and fauna, and takes as much care of the natural wealth of the resort as it does the guests.

Hotelito Desconocido has won awards from Trip Advisor, International Hotel Awards, Food and Travel and also Conde Nast.

Rooms

The resort is made of twenty-seven individually decorated palafitos- stilt houses. These each have an extra large soaking tub, are decorated with candles (as there is no artificial light) and have one wall left exposed and open to the elements.

The rooms are perfect natural luxury. Each room has it’s own personality and name, chosen from the twenty-seven cards of the Mexican lottery. La Luna has rustic, exposed brickwork body with a straw roof, and is decorated with neutral, white linens, while La Sandia has a watermelon theme, with greens, reds and whites splashed around the room.

Each room comes with bathrobes, private veranda with sitting area, slippers, natural toiletries, fans, mini-fridge, mosquito netting and outlets for phone chargers. There is only one suite at this resort.

Dining

The resort is home to two of the most prestigious restaurants on the coast. El Diablito is the main restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner from a menu designed by chef Felix Cabrera. It is a breezy and relaxed dining area in the daytime, and an intimate and romantic restaurant in the evening with music and candles. El Nopalito is the other restaurant, serving lunch, snacks and drinks throughout the day in it’s colourful, carribean style poolside beach café. Both resaturants use organic ingredients that are locally sourced.

There are also bar areas in both of these restaurants should you just want a tequila cocktail during the daytime.
